Makeup for New Mums: Simple Natural Looks for Busy Mornings
Having a baby turns your world upside down in the most wonderful and exhausting way. Somewhere in the middle of it all, a lot of new mums tell me they'd just love to carve out five minutes for themselves. To feel a little bit more like them again, maybe even in a new way.
That's something I genuinely love helping with.
You don't need a complicated routine or a bag full of new products. You just need a few things that work for your skin right now, and the confidence to use them quickly and well.
Start with your skin
After pregnancy and through the newborn months, your skin changes. Hormones, broken sleep, and not drinking nearly enough water all take their toll. Before thinking about makeup, it's worth checking in with your skincare first.
I always recommend keeping it simple. A gentle cleanser, a good moisturiser, and something to help your skin glow from within. Brands like Pai and Neal's Yard are brilliant for this, both certified organic, kind to sensitive skin, and genuinely nourishing. Weleda's Skin Food is one I recommend constantly for dry or dehydrated skin, and it's the kind of product that earns its place in the bathroom forever.

A simple makeup routine that fits into your life
When you've got a baby, anything that takes more than five minutes needs to earn its place. Here's what I'd suggest as a starting point.
A tinted moisturiser or lightweight foundation that gives your skin a fresh, even finish without feeling heavy. Something like the Kjaer Weis Beautiful Tint or the Ilia True Skin Foundation, both of which feature in my guides. Layer a cream blush over the top and it doubles up as a bit of warmth on the cheeks too.
A quick swipe of mascara and a tinted lip balm and you're done. You look like you, just a little more awake and a little more glowy. The whole thing takes five minutes once you know what you're doing.
Learning what works for you
This is genuinely the bit that makes the biggest difference, and it's something I cover in my Natural Makeup Digital Guide as well as in my in-person 1:1 lessons. Knowing which products are good is one thing. Knowing which are good for you, your skin type, and your colouring is another entirely.
A lot of the mums I work with come in with a makeup bag full of things that don't quite work anymore, either because their skin has changed or because they were never quite right to begin with. We go through everything together and work out what to keep, what to swap, and what to add. Then we build a look that's quick, natural, and completely theirs.
If that sounds like something you'd love, I'd be really happy to help. Drop me a hello here and let's have a chat.
